The Problem: Being homesick is something that many people experience when being far from home. One thing people really miss and desire that may get lost over time are home cooked meals. Our team addresses the disappearance of traditional, cultural recipes that are never documented or experienced by people. Through our app, these culturally-rich recipes are to be published and accessed by anyone around the world. The app allows people to not only share part of their culture, but explore that of others. Doing so we hope individuals exploring and connecting through different cuisines and recipes help keep those traditions alive and accessible to people worldwide.

Our Solution: As students far from home, we understand the struggle of finding home-cooked meals, or the nostalgic taste that restaurants can’t recreate. Our solution is to develop an unique app that enables individuals to explore a community who are eager to share and discover home-cooked recipes. This platform aims to provide a sense of nostalgia and evoke the comforting taste of family meals that many miss when they are far from home or separated from loved ones. By connecting people through the universal language of food, the app allows users not only to share their favorite recipes but also to tell the personal stories behind them—why they are special and have impacted their lives. Users are also able to find traditional recipes and ones perhaps lost from their own childhoods.  This approach fosters a deeper connection, as users bond over experiences and the cultural significance of dishes from different backgrounds.
