SOWA REBRAND

FALL 2025

BRANDING
GRAPHIC DESIGN
MOTION
This project reimagines SoWa’s identity through research and iterative exploration, shifting its simple existing logo toward a more playful and youthful expression. The bold, geometric letterforms are inspired by the South End’s structured grid, echoing the neighborhood’s spatial rhythm and architectural solidity. A brick-red palette drawn from the area’s historic buildings grounds the system in place while highlighting SoWa’s creative energy.

The result is a visual identity that balances structure and vibrancy, capturing a community rooted in history yet alive with art and innovation.

Comparison of SOWA’s original logo to my rebranded logo:
New logo inspired by the architectural structure of South Boston, where SoWa is located.

An animated logo begins the brand guide, showcasing the architectural inspiration as well as the brand’s playful energy.

Step 1
The process began with research, mindmaping, logo sketching, and brainstorming taglines and messaging:

Step 2
After finalizing a good idea of this playful and community based vibe, I selected two of the strongest logo sketches to move forward with:

Step 3
From here, with help with peers, we decided to move forward with the more architectural inspired logo:
After a refinement of the logo, I began thinking about graphic elements that can be taken from the logo and how that works in application.

Step 4
Refine. Refine. Refine.
Starting playing around more with colors, the doodle element, and overall incorporting the logo into the application better.

Finalized applications can be seen in the brand guide deck!
This was a process based in research and focused in iteration.
